Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has given out the sum of N10 million to Aliyu Muhammad, the husband of a slain Islamic teacher, Ummulkhairi, who was lynched by a mob after she was falsely accused of child theft.
Aliyu confirmed receiving the money in cash from the governor, stating that he was assured that his children would continue their education.
Aliyu, who spoke with correspondents yesterday, described the governor’s intervention as a lifeline for his family, saying the assistance had restored hope following the tragic loss of his wife.
“Governor Uba Sani gave me N10 million in cash. I was taken to see him, and he told me, ‘God willing, your children will return to school.’
“He also told me that if there is anything I need, I should always reach out to the people he assigned,” Aliyu said.
Expressing gratitude, the widower praised the governor for honouring the commitment he made shortly after the incident.
“I thank God, and may Allah reward him with goodness. Right now, I am very happy beyond words. He fulfilled the promise he made and has kept to his word,” he added.
Aliyu also thanked Nigerians who supported his family with prayers and other forms of assistance during their difficult period.
“I also thank the public for their prayers, support and assistance,” he said.
The governor had earlier promised to stand by the family during a condolence visit after the tragic killing of the Islamic teacher.
Recall that the Guild had reported that the incident occurred in June 2026 at Maraban Jos in Kaduna State while the victim, a mother of four children, was travelling to attend an Islamic preaching session.
She was attacked and killed after some youths and women allegedly accused her of abducting a child.
Subsequent investigations established that the allegation was false and that the deceased had committed no offence, intensifying public outrage over the dangers of jungle justice and the spread of unverified claims.
