I didn’t leave Peller’s wedding over Wizkid-Fela comparison — Seun Kuti

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has refuted claims that he walked out of the wedding of popular content creators Peller and Jarvis in anger, following reports that the event’s MC rated Wizkid above his late father, Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.

The singer described the reports as false, insisting there was no confrontation or reason for him to leave the event over comments made by the master of ceremonies.

According to Seun, he departed the wedding reception at about 8:30 p.m. because he already had prior commitments that required his presence at the New Afrika Shrine.

He explained that he had scheduled engagements at the shrine and could not afford to remain at the wedding throughout the night despite enjoying the celebration.

Expressing surprise at the rumours, Seun said he was shocked to discover that several blogs had circulated stories claiming he stormed out after the MC mentioned Wizkid and Fela in the same conversation.

He maintained that the reports were completely untrue and urged people to stop creating controversies where none existed.

“I had other engagements at the shrine and I am busy. They expected me to stay all night when I had something to do at the shrine,” he said.

The Grammy-nominated artiste stressed that his exit had nothing to do with any comparison involving Wizkid and his legendary father, adding that he simply honoured an earlier commitment.

The speculation had gained traction on social media shortly after the wedding, with some users claiming Seun was displeased by the MC’s remarks and decided to leave the venue in protest.

However, with his latest clarification, the Afrobeat star has firmly dismissed the narrative, saying his departure was solely due to his work schedule and not because of any perceived slight against Fela or comments about Wizkid
