Four injure after fire engulfs petrol tanker in Abuja

Four people sustained minor injuries after a petrol tanker caught fire at a filling station at AYM Shafa Filling Station, beside the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) office along Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Way, Area 3, Garki, Abuja.

The Federal Fire Service said the injured victims, all male, had been treated and discharged from hospital following the incident.

In a statement issued on Friday, the National Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Paul Abraham, said the fire broke out while the tanker was discharging Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at the filling station.

The blaze spread to part of a nearby three-storey building before firefighters arrived and brought it under control.

Abraham said the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi, personally coordinated the emergency response until the fire was successfully extinguished.

The Service said an investigation had commenced to determine the cause of the fire.

It also commended members of the public and sister emergency agencies for their cooperation and support during the operation.
