Gombe ADC publicity secretary resigns amid defection rumours

The Gombe State Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congres, ADC, Abdulrahman Zaune, has withdrawing his membership of the party ahead next year’s election.

Zaune, who did not state a reason behind his resignation, submitted his withdrawal letter to the political party stating that the development takes immediate effect, thanking the organization for the opportunity to serve at local, state and national levels.

In the letter dated yesterday, the politician wished the ADC well in its activities but did not state hint on where he is defecting to, but speculations state that he may be defecting to the All Progressive Congress, APC, in  a development which comes just a day after the APC gubernatorial candidate, Jamilu Gwamna, visited the Dukku Local Government where the defector hails from.

The timing of the resignation has heightened political interest, particularly as political parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Zaune’s resignation also comes weeks after the ADC State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, resigned from the opposition party and subsequently joined the APC in support of Gwamna’s governorship ambition.
