Operatives of the Nigerian Army has foiled a planned attack by bandits on a community in Katsina State in one of its efforts to curb terrorism challenges in the country.
The military disclosed that it’s 17 Brigade troops, on getting an intelligence of the attackers planing to ambush residence in the community, swiftly responded to the incident, by engaging the insurgents in a gun battle which disrupted the planned assault before the attackers could execute their assault.
The army, on Monday, held that the incident which happened around Kaddanya village and other communities in Charanchi Local Government Area led to a link with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and Katsina State Community Watch Corps joined the military operation, strengthening the security response and helping to secure the affected communities.
Following the successful intervention, troops intensified patrols around the local government to prevent the bandits from regrouping or gaining freedom of movement.
A military personnel involved in the operation described the operation as a coordinated response designed to deny the attackers the opportunity to strike vulnerable communities.
The development underscores the importance of rapid response and inter-agency cooperation in confronting threats to communities across Katsina State.
