Army arrests terrorist link to 30 Kaduna residents’ murder

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist, 48-year-old Salihu Miakailu, over alleged links to the killing of about 30 residents in Kaduna State weeks ago.

It was gathered that Miakailu was arrested during an intelligence-led operation conducted by troops of Sector 3, Operation Enduring Peace, at his residence in Dutsen Kura Village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, at about 8:00 p.m. yesterday.

A military source familiar with the arrest told reporters on Tuesday that Miakailu was being investigated for his alleged involvement in the attack on Naridon Village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on July 27, which left about 30 residents dead.

The source said the investigation would help security agencies determine the extent of the suspect’s involvement in the attack and identify other individuals who may have taken part in the operation.

“The suspect remains in military custody while investigators work to establish the full scope of his involvement and uncover any accomplices connected to the attack,” the source said.

The arrest, according to the source, is part of a broader security operation targeting individuals suspected of involvement in violent attacks across Plateau State and neighbouring Kaduna State.
