The Nigerian Army has arrested a terrorist, Sule Bako, informant during an intelligence-led operation, intensifying efforts to dismantle insurgent support networks in Nigeria.
Bako is currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary interrogation as investigators seek to determine the extent of his alleged links to terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
A military source involved in the operation said on Thursday that the arrest was carried out in Dzangola Kilba, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, at about 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to the source, the arrest followed credible intelligence alleging that the suspect had been supplying information to terrorist elements.
The arrest was reportedly made by troops of Operation Hadin Kai during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the 232 Battalion (Tactical) under Operation Desert Sanity V.
“The suspect was arrested without resistance and is undergoing preliminary interrogation while investigations continue to establish the scope of his alleged involvement with terrorist networks,” the source said.
Furthermore, the source explained that the operation is part of broader intelligence-led efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to identify and dismantle terrorist support structures, including informants, logistics providers and other collaborators aiding insurgent activities across the North-East.
“The objective is to deny terrorist groups access to local support networks and strengthen ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region,” the source added.
The Guild reports that the latest arrest comes as the military continues to intensify both offensive and intelligence operations aimed at disrupting insurgent movements and weakening the operational capabilities of terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
