Music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, known professionally as Don Jazzy, has refuted allegations that he charges artists and filmmakers for promotional services.
The Mavin Records founder addressed the claim on social media in response to a comedic video featuring actor Itele, in which the actor playfully restrained Don Jazzy and compelled him to publicise an upcoming film titled ‘Black Market.’
Following the release of the video, an online user suggested that the endorsement had been purchased, contending that Don Jazzy engages in promotional work for financial gain.
Don Jazzy dismissed the assertion, stating that no entertainer has ever remunerated him for promotional support, characterising his assistance as freely given.
He implied that speculation about his involvement in paid promotions misrepresented his approach to industry support.
‘Black Market’ is a Nollywood production pursuing a Guinness World Records title for the largest film screening at a single venue.
The film is a collaborative effort involving multiple production companies. The premiere is scheduled for September 26 at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, with organisers targeting 50,000 attendees.
The initiative seeks to surpass the existing record of over 43,000 viewers watching a film at one location.
