The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of Nollywood actress Tope Osoba, who allegedly passed away after a prolonged battle with breast cancer. She was 40.
The sad news was announced on Wednesday by fellow actress Foluke Daramola, who shared the development in a post on her Instagram page.
Osoba first disclosed her health challenges in 2024 when she publicly appealed for financial support after undergoing her first breast cancer surgery.

At the time, Daramola had revealed that the actress required a second operation to remove the remaining cancerous tissue from her breast. The procedure was estimated to cost about ₦12 million, prompting colleagues, fans and well-wishers to rally support for her treatment.
Despite the efforts to secure the needed medical care, reports indicate that the actress eventually succumbed to the illness.
Tributes have since begun pouring in from members of the entertainment industry and fans, who have taken to social media to mourn the actress and celebrate her contributions to Nollywood.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by Osoba’s family regarding her passing.
