With just six months until the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) deputy governorship candidate for Sokoto State has declared that his party is poised for a decisive victory.
Hon. Bello Isa Ambarura, who currently represents Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the assertion during a courtesy visit to the party’s state secretariat in Sokoto. The lawmaker was at the headquarters to express gratitude to party leadership for selecting him as the running mate.
Addressing newsmen, Ambarura acknowledged the calibre of aspirants within the ADC but maintained that his emergence was grounded in merit and decades of public service.
“My visit is simply to thank the state executives and faithful for choosing me as deputy governorship candidate among thousands,” he said. “I also appreciate their support and solicit further cooperation.”
When asked about his selection, the legislator pointed to his 35-year career in the state civil service, where he rose from clerk to Permanent Secretary. He also served as Permanent Secretary of the State Pilgrim Welfare Agency and as a member of the State House of Assembly before his current federal role.
“The party considered merit,” Ambarura emphasised. “That is the criterion.”
The ADC flag-bearer called on party members across Sokoto to unite and rally behind the campaign, expressing confidence that divine will would ultimately favour the party.
“We are ready to participate actively,” he stated. “We pray to Almighty Allah to grant us success.”
With the election clock ticking, the ADC is positioning itself as a formidable force in Sokoto’s political landscape.
