The Yobe Strategic Engagement Initiative for BMW and BAT (YSEIB) Wednesday inaugurated its mandate convention, rallying full support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the inaugural “BMW Mandate Convention 2026,” held at the Art and Culture Centre auditorium in Damaturu, the group formally pledged massive votes for Alhaji Baba Malam Wali (BMW) for governor of Yobe state, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) for re-election, and all other APC candidates vying for positions in the state.
Speaking at the well-attended event, the state coordinator of YSEIB, Muhammad Saleh Ahmed, stated that the initiative was established to secure a resounding victory for the APC at all levels.
He called on party faithful to take immediate action by registering to vote, while expressing deep concern over the low voter registration figures in the state.
Saleh said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decried the low turnout for voter registration in the state. To change this narrative, he charged all APC support groups to engage in aggressive awareness campaigns.
He also urged them to launch continuous voter registration drives across the state to ensure no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral process.
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, the coordinator noted a critical lesson that President Tinubu lost in Yobe state during the last presidential poll to the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar.
“This time around, we must wake up and redouble our efforts. We cannot afford a repeat of 2023. Every candidate wants to win, and we want them to win by significant margin. The APC support groups in this state are prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal,” he stated.
