Speaking at the event, Trump highlighted Cadillac’s flagship SUV and said, “We ordered, I think, 250 Escalades, right? We ordered 250 Escalades… We look sharp in those Escalades.”
He also added, “Our guys are very spoiled. They’re very spoiled. They like the Escalade. So do I… They’re making literally 250 of them.”

Historic visit
Trump’s visit marked the first time a sitting US president has entered General Motors’ century-old Milford Proving Ground. At this private vehicle testing facility, the automaker develops and validates new technologies and vehicles.
During the visit, Trump watched a drag race, inspected several GM models, including the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Hummer EV, Escalade IQ and Cadillac CELESTIQ, signed the bonnet of a Corvette, viewed GM Defence vehicles and delivered a speech lasting more than an hour.
General Motors Chair and CEO Mary Barra hosted Trump and other officials at the proving ground. The company also highlighted its investment of more than $16 billion in US manufacturing and research and development this year.
In his speech, Trump praised the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Hummer and Escalade, and thanked GM’s workforce for their contribution to the country’s manufacturing sector.
Escalade legacy
The Cadillac Escalade, introduced in 1998, is the flagship SUV in Cadillac’s line-up and is also the brand behind the US presidential limousine, known as “The Beast.”
The 2026 Cadillac Escalade has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting in the low $90,000 range, while higher-spec variants cost well over $100,000.
General Motors recently reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results despite a 31% drop in net income, driven by continued demand for its pickup trucks and SUVs.
