A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing her frustration over what she described as the “new reality” of dating.
In a video shared on social media, the lady reflected on what she called a complete reversal of roles in the dating scene, saying things have changed compared to how they used to be.
According to her, women who once had men seeking introductions to their single friends are now finding themselves approaching men to ask if they know any eligible bachelors.
“Men used to ask for our single friends”
The lady recalled a time when men often approached women for help in meeting their single female friends.
She added that during that period, many women felt they had more options.
“Now we are the ones asking men”
The lady explained that the situation has now changed, with some women becoming the ones searching for connections.
In her words:
“Everything has changed now. Before, it was men who used to ask us to give them our single friends. We’d even be telling them, ‘If you want me to give you my friend, you’ll have to pay o.’ And they would give us money just to connect them with our friends.
“Back then, we go dey form, use men play. But now, things have changed. Now we are the ones begging men to give us their single friends, asking them, ‘Don’t you have any friend who is single?’”
“The men are now feeling themselves. Imagine when they eventually reply, they’re telling you, ‘I have one, but he has a girlfriend… although he likes you.’”
“God, please reverse things back”
“Imagine they are now mocking us. God, please reverse things back to how they used to be.”
