SOCIAL media influencer and activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM),has opposed the planned Lagos concert of South African singer Tyla.
The vocal activist cited mounting xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans living in South Africa.
Otse made his position known in a video shared on his verified Instagram page.
In the footage, he said the campaign to stop the artiste from performing in Lagos was aimed at drawing attention to the xenophobic attacks and express solidarity with those affected.
Otse said his message was directed at the concert promoters and South African celebrities who, according to him, had not spoken out against the attacks.
Otse said: “There will be no Tyla show in Nigeria. It is not happening.
He however insisted that his campaign did not support violence in any form.
In accompanying post, VDM said: “This page does not support violence,” adding that the campaign was intended to show solidarity with those facing xenophobic attack,
The South African Grammy-winning singer had announced Dec. 22 as the date for the Lagos concert as part of her scheduled APOP World Tour.(NAN)
