Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has shared his account of what led to his strained relationship with music star Davido.
In a video circulating online, VDM alleged that his relationship with the singer changed after he declined an offer of ₦50 million to campaign for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.
According to VDM, members of Davido’s team invited him to meet the governor and allegedly offered him the money in connection with a campaign.
Speaking in Pidgin English, he claimed he turned down the proposal despite the large amount involved.
“Davido and his crew offered me money… they said I should come and meet the governor and collect ₦50 million. I rejected it,” he said.
VDM also recalled that his last conversation with Davido was over the singer’s earlier promise to reward a young man in Ghana with $5,000.
He said many people criticised him online after the payment was delayed because they believed he had used the story for publicity. According to him, he later contacted Davido through a direct message to remind him about the pledge, after which the payment was reportedly made.
The activist’s remarks come amid growing public speculation over his relationship with the award-winning singer.
As of the time of filing this report, Davido has not publicly responded to the allegations made by VDM.
