2027: Alli welcomes APC National Chairman to Oyo, calls for unity ahead of poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has welcomed the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to the state, describing his visit as a major boost to the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Alli, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday, said the visit was timely and significant, particularly as the party works to strengthen its structures and resolve internal differences ahead of the election.

According to him, the presence of the APC national chairman in Oyo State demonstrates the commitment of the national leadership to building a united, disciplined and formidable party capable of reclaiming the state in 2027.

The senator said the Oyo APC must move beyond internal disagreements and focus on what he described as the larger task of providing an alternative to the current administration.

“I warmly welcome our National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to the historic and politically significant Oyo State.

“His visit is a demonstration that the national leadership of our great party is deeply concerned about the progress, unity and electoral fortunes of APC in the state.”

Alli said the national chairman’s visit would energise party members, reassure supporters and strengthen efforts to present a united front to voters across the state.

He added that Oyo APC was ready to work with the national leadership to build a party that is disciplined, inclusive, transparent and firmly rooted at the grassroots.

The APC candidate stressed that the strength of the party lies in its ability to accommodate different interests while pursuing a common political objective.

He warned that personal ambitions should not be allowed to override the collective interests of the party.

Alli therefore called on APC leaders, elders, stakeholders and members across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State to use the national chairman’s visit as an opportunity to renew their commitment to reconciliation, unity and grassroots mobilisation.

He said the party was not merely preparing for an election but seeking to offer the people of Oyo State what he described as a credible alternative based on competence, accountability, security, economic development and inclusive governance.

Confidence in National Leadership

Alli expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s leadership, describing him as a leader with the experience, temperament and capacity to unite the APC and position it for stronger electoral performance.

He assured the national chairman that party members across Oyo State were prepared to work with the national leadership and mobilise the party’s structures for victory in 2027.

“The task before us is greater than any individual. It is about the future of Oyo State and the welfare of our people. We must therefore put APC first, Oyo State first and the people first,” Alli said.

He added that genuine reconciliation and disciplined grassroots mobilisation would be critical to the party’s prospects in the next election.

“I am confident that with unity of purpose, genuine reconciliation and disciplined grassroots mobilisation, APC will emerge victorious in 2027.

“We welcome our National Chairman with open arms, and we assure him that Oyo State is ready for the progressive change that APC represents.”

Alli also welcomed other members of the APC National Working Committee and national leadership who accompanied Yilwatda, including the National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.

He urged party members to give the national leadership the necessary cooperation and support to resolve outstanding issues and reposition the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
