The management of Joseph Prince Films has dismissed widespread reports claiming that popular TikToker and filmmaker Joseph Prince, popularly known as Joffy, has died, confirming that he is alive and receiving treatment after a violent attack.
In a statement released on Friday through Joffy’s official TikTok account, the management described the death rumours circulating on social media as false and shared photographs showing the content creator receiving medical care in hospital.
“We wish to state unequivocally that these reports are false. Joseph Prince (Joffy) is alive,” the statement said.
What happened?
According to the management, the incident occurred while Joffy and members of the Joseph Prince Films production team were returning from a promotional campaign for their forthcoming movie, The Last Bell, during which they were documenting their activities.
The statement alleged that the team was confronted by a group of street touts who demanded money, leading to a confrontation.
It further claimed that production equipment was seized, a cast member’s phone was stolen, another crew member was assaulted and the situation eventually turned violent.
During the attack, Joffy reportedly sustained a stab wound, while other members of the production team suffered varying degrees of injuries and emotional distress.
The management confirmed that he remains under medical care and appealed to the public to disregard false reports about his death.
Movie release postponed
Following the incident, Joseph Prince Films announced that the release of its upcoming movie, The Last Bell, has been postponed indefinitely.
According to the management, the immediate focus is on the recovery and well-being of Joffy and other members of the production team affected by the attack.
The organisation also thanked supporters for their prayers and concern while urging members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information.
It added that any future updates regarding Joffy’s condition would be communicated only through the official platforms of Joseph Prince Films.
