Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara has described Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as his “biggest enemy” in a light-hearted remark, revealing the strong friendship the pair have developed at the Turkish champions.
Sara made the comment while reflecting on life in the Galatasaray dressing room, where Osimhen has established himself as one of the club’s key players since arriving from Napoli before completing a permanent move last summer.
The Brazilian midfielder, however, made it clear that his remark was made in jest, stressing that the pair share a close relationship built on mutual respect and constant banter.
Friendship built on dressing room banter
Speaking to Le Marca Sports, Sara explained the nature of his relationship with the Nigerian international.
“Osimhen is my biggest enemy,” Sara said. “We’re just joking around, the level of rivalry and friendship between us is very high. I get annoyed with him, but he’s a very good friend of mine.”
Osimhen has become one of the senior figures in Galatasaray’s squad after enjoying an outstanding spell in Istanbul.
The striker has scored 59 goals and contributed 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions, helping the club win back-to-back Turkish Super Lig titles as well as a domestic cup.
His performances have also strengthened his influence in the dressing room, with several teammates praising his leadership and support since his arrival.
Focus shifts to new season
While preparations for the 2026-27 campaign continue, Osimhen is still looking for his first goal of pre-season after featuring in Galatasaray’s friendly defeat to Venezia on Monday.
The 27-year-old will have another opportunity to open his account when the Turkish champions face Villarreal in their next warm-up fixture as they continue preparations for the new season.
