The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has disbursed a total of N50 million in financial grants to 1,000 women traders in the Iwo local government are inea of Osun state to boost petty trading and small-scale enterprises.
Represented by Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, the First Lady reiterated that the flagship intervention under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) remains firmly committed to enhancing the health, economic well-being, and livelihoods of women and children nationwide.
Speaking at the empowerment event held in Iwo, Oyebamiji noted that the initiative also underscores the party’s dedication to grassroots development ahead of the upcoming August 15, 2026, governorship election in the state.
She disclosed that beneficiaries were carefully selected across various local markets within the region and urged them to invest the funds prudently to scale up their businesses and improve family welfare.
“Empowering small business owners remains one of the fastest ways to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and reduce unemployment,” Oyebamiji stated.
She assured traders that an incoming APC administration in Osun State would prioritize policies driving the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through accessible grants, soft loans, business-friendly regulations, and targeted entrepreneurship support.
According to her, the proposed state administration will seamlessly complement federal economic reforms with localized programs tailored specifically to the needs of Osun residents.
The royal father of the host community, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, lauded the empowerment initiative, while calling for increased infrastructural and economic investments in Iwo and the entire Osun West Senatorial District.
