Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has urged authorities to investigate several senior government officials over the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Dalung said everyone allegedly connected to the matter should be held accountable, regardless of their office.
He argued that a thorough investigation is necessary to establish the facts and protect the country’s reputation.
Officials Dalung says should face investigation
According to the former minister, those he believes should be investigated include:
- President Bola Tinubu
- Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume
- National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu
- Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS)
- Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
- Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
Dalung alleged that the officials had roles that should be examined in connection with the controversy.
Allegations involving Gbajabiamila
The controversy follows allegations made by businessman Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, received ₦400 million through a proxy and later requested an additional ₦200 million to facilitate an appointment.
The Presidency has denied the allegations, maintaining that the Chief of Staff neither issues appointment letters nor has the authority to make appointments.
Gbajabiamila ‘central to investigation’ – Dalung
Dalung insisted that any credible investigation must examine the role of the President’s Chief of Staff.
According to him, the office occupies a strategic position within the Presidency, making it difficult for individuals to access the Presidential Villa without proper clearance.
He questioned how the businessman allegedly gained access to the Villa and argued that investigators should determine whether the President was misled, whether key information was withheld, or whether any individual acted outside official procedures.
Dalung maintained that establishing the facts through an impartial investigation would be in the public interest.
