A Magistrate Court in Ogun State has ordered the remand of three suspects linked to the killing of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The accused trio, The suspects are Sodeinde Phillip, Sobu Obafunsho and Shakirudeen Ayoola, who are facing allegations over the murder of Oyesiku and Adetayon as imposed by the police.
The court in Isabo on Monday granted the order after hearing an ex parte application filed by the police, directing a 60-day remand of the accused to allow the state Directorate of Public Prosecution to review the case file before arraignment before a competent court.
The State CID legal officer, AS Abiodun, said the application was filed under Section 306 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Ogun State, 2017. He told the court that a 24-paragraph affidavit by ASP Saka of the homicide section, 17 exhibits and a written address were attached. The matter was adjourned to September 10, 2026.
Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the suspects will remain in custody while the DPP considers legal advice. He added that the command under Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni is committed to seeing the case through to ensure justice.
The investigation began in June after both victims were found dead at Oyesiku’s Agodo residence. Authorities said the response followed reports of unusual activity at the property.
Operatives found signs of forced entry, with Adetayo discovered at the security post and Oyesiku inside the house. Her missing Lexus RX330 was later recovered during the probe.
