The Gombe State Police Command has recovered the body of a 28-year-old student of the Federal University Kashere from stagnant water in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased, identified as Enoch Sunday Maisamari, was found motionless after residents alerted the police to the discovery, prompting officers to the scene.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the victim’s body was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead.
Abdullahi noted that there were no visible signs of violence on the body, adding that detectives had commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
“The Gombe State Police Command received a report on July 22, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m. of the recovery of the motionless body of one Enoch Sunday Maisamari, 28, a student of the Federal University Kashere, from stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko LGA.
“The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body.
“Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he said.
The police spokesperson appealed to members of the public to remain calm, assuring them that investigations were ongoing to establish the cause of the student’s death.
