Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 15.43 per cent in July 2026, down by 0.48 percentage points from the 15.91 per cent recorded in June.
The latest figure was contained in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which also showed a sharp decline from the 24.94 per cent inflation rate recorded in July 2025.
Despite the moderation in the headline inflation rate, the CPI increased during the month, rising to 145.3 points in July from 143.0 points in June.
This represents a 2.2-point increase in the consumer price index within the month, indicating that prices continued to rise even as the overall inflation rate slowed.
The July inflation figure points to a further easing of headline price pressures in the Nigerian economy, although consumers continue to face higher prices for goods and services.
