PCC, Abuja varsity partner to promote administrative justice

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Office, and the University of Abuja have agreed on partnership to strengthen institutional cooperation and promote administrative justice in both bodies.

The agreement was reached during a courtesy visit by the FCT Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Musa Dikko, to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Hakeem Fawehinmi, the former, mentioning that the initiative is aimed at fostering a cordial working relationship with the University while creating greater awareness of the Commission’s role in ensuring administrative justice and resolving complaints.

The dialogue, held at the Senate Building of the institution in Abuja is expected to enhance awareness of the Commission’s mandate, improve the resolution of complaints, and promote accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery within the University and beyond.

Dikko urged the University’s management to regard correspondence from the Commission as an opportunity to resolve complaints and strengthen good governance rather than as a source of concern.

The Commissioner also announced plans to establish a Public Complaints Commission Club in the University to educate students on their rights, responsibilities, and the Commission’s mandate and commended the Vice-Chancellor for his leadership and reaffirmed the Commission’s opposition to any move to reduce or encroach on land allocated to the University.

In his remarks, the Director of Legal Services, Hassan Makolo, praised the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and assured that all future correspondence from the Commission would receive prompt attention, and also called for sustained collaboration to protect the University’s landed property and other critical assets.

Fawehinmi described the visit as timely and heartwarming, noting that the University remained committed to efficient service delivery through its Rapid Intervention Unit.

He requested that future correspondence from the Commission be directed to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor to ensure swift action.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to Hon. Musa Dikko and his delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to partnering with the Public Complaints Commission in promoting accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery.
