Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit have killed two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of the Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris Adesulu, in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.
Adesulu was abducted on June 30, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., after armed men ambushed him at his residence in Okun Owa and forcefully whisked him away.
Following the abduction, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, immediately activated the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, backed by other tactical teams, to secure the victim’s release and apprehend those responsible.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Adesulu was rescued unharmed on July 3, 2026.
Babaseyi said operatives subsequently intensified efforts to track down the kidnappers, leading to an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the killing of two suspects.
“Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives stormed the Agoro/Imodi axis. On sighting the police, the kidnappers engaged the operatives in a gun duel. The operatives responded decisively, leading to the neutralisation of two kidnappers, while other members of the gang escaped with gunshot wounds,” the statement read.
Babaseyi said a search of the deceased suspects led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to have been used to collect ransom, and other items believed to be connected to the kidnapping operation.
He added that the bodies of the slain suspects had been deposited at a government morgue for autopsy, while efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members and recover additional exhibits.
The police spokesperson also quoted the Commissioner of Police as commending the courage, professionalism and operational efficiency of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams involved in the operation.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to identifying, tracking and dismantling criminal networks operating across Ogun State, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police with timely and credible information.
