A nongovernmental organisation, Path to Follow, through its Basic Moral And Civic Knowledge project, has reiterated its belief that programmes geared towards instilling morals and civic knowledge in pupils and students early in life will help check incidences of juvenile delinquencies in the society.
The Project General Coordinator, Chikezie Allwell Chinkata, made the assertion during the presentation of gifts, prizes and payment of school charges to some students of the Government Junior and Senior secondary schools, Gwarimpa, Life Camp, Abuja, who excelled in series of lectures on morals, road safety rules and general civic knowledge.
He said the lectures organised by the Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC), Life Camp Command, Road Safety Club in the schools in collaboration with the Path To Follow: Basic Moral And Civic Knowledge Project, was aimed at educating the students on basic morals, civic responsibilities on road safety guides as well as expectations from parents, teachers and relevant stakeholders towards encouraging students and teenagers to imbibe sound moral and civic ethical standards.
Speaking during the presentation, the Unit Commander, FRSC Life Camp, Assistant Corps Commander, Laraba J Shanwa, while urging the students of the schools to put the lessons on road guides into practice called on parents to ensure that they also desisted from actions that were not in compliance with road safety guides especially, with regards to underaged driving.
The Unit Commander who was represented by an officer of the Command, Deputy Route Commander David’s Peter, expressed optimism that the lectures would help to check cases of accidents involving students while in or outside the school.
Receiving the prizes, gifts and payment of school charges, the students expressed delight for the knowledge gained and the gesture generally.
The Principals of the Government Junior and Senior Secondary School, Gwarimpa, Life Camp, Mr. Francis Nnananwa Nwachukwu, and Ajayi Abubakar, respectively called for more of such programmes and thanked tje NGO and FRSC for organising such an encouraging and educating exercise.
