The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has restored its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, following a temporary disruption that affected access to the platform.
JAMB announced on Monday that CAPS was now fully operational and urged tertiary institutions to accelerate their 2026/2027 admission processes to recover lost time and meet the approved deadlines.
The board also advised candidates who receive admission offers to promptly accept them on the platform to avoid delays in completing their admission process.
Under the approved admission schedule, public universities are expected to conclude their 2026/2027 admissions by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30. Polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education have until December 31 to complete their admission exercises.
The restoration follows a technical disruption that left CAPS temporarily unavailable. JAMB had earlier said the problem was connected to the hosting arrangements for the system and that it was working with the hosting organisation to restore full functionality.
JAMB also reminded candidates who had previously been awaiting their O’level results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination results.
According to the board, ensuring that these results are properly uploaded or verified will make the candidates’ credentials available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.
CAPS remains central to Nigeria’s tertiary admission process, allowing institutions to process admissions while candidates can monitor their admission status and accept provisional offers through the system.
The board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience.
With CAPS now operational, JAMB has called on institutions and candidates to make use of the restored platform and proceed with the admission process within the approved timelines.
