The Nasarawa Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death after refusing to cook the family’s meal in Agyaragu Community, Obi Local Government Area of the state.
As gathered, the suspect was said to have continuously beaten his wife since their marriage over six years ago on sundry issues, even after the deceased woman delivered her second child.
The Police, in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday, disclosed that the incident was reported to the Agyaragu Police Division, with a complaint alleging that the suspect had assaulted his wife, leading to her death.
The Police said that upon receiving the report, patrol officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the victim was evacuated to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, for medical examination and preservation.
The statement added that the suspect was promptly arrested and, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to the act, claiming that he acted in anger after the deceased allegedly refused to prepare food for the family.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Shetima Mohammed, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for a thorough, discreet, and expedited investigation.
The Commissioner assured members of the public that justice would be served, stressing that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
