Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has set up an eight-man judicial committee to probe situations that led to the kidnap of students and teachers from schools in the area.
Makinde inaugurated the committee at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s office, stating that it would be chaired by Professor Mojeed Owoade, stating that he would be joined by Jibril Ibrahim, Ayo Obe, Ngozi Onadeko, Abimbola Orogade, Sanusi Muazu, Folorunsho Osunrayi and Olamide Tella, the latter, who would serve as the Secretary.
At the Secretariat in Agodi Ibadan on Friday, the Governor said that the initiative was not to undermine the security agencies but to ensure that every lesson is learnt, every question answered and to establish facts surrounding the incident.
He tasked the individuals to establish the facts surrounding the mishap, identify institutional or operational lapses and recommend measures to strengthen the protection of schools and communities to prevent a recurrence.
Makinde assured the of necessary support to enable them operate independently and professionally and have the panel four weeks to complete its assignment, adding that it could request additional time to ensure that no stone was left unturned.
Owoade, in his utterance, expressed confidence in the team and assured the public that nothing but the truth will form their reports and recommendation.
