The Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON Youth Council) has commended Grosvenor Global Services Limited (GGSL) for its contributions to the protection of Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure, host community development and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The commendation was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the National Executive Council (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) Annual Mid-Term Review Meeting of the council held in Abuja. Blueprint reports
The council said its assessment of indigenous companies engaged in the protection of strategic oil and gas assets across the Niger Delta showed that Grosvenor Global Services Limited distinguished itself through effective community engagement, employment generation, humanitarian interventions and stakeholder partnerships.
The council added that the company’s operational approach has contributed to peace, security and sustainable development in many of its host communities.
Leadership earns commendation
Addressing journalists after the meeting, National President of the HOSTCON Youth Council, Snr. Comr. Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, popularly known as Gen. Osama, said the council carried out a comprehensive review of the activities and performance of indigenous firms involved in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure.
According to him, Grosvenor Global Services Limited emerged as one of the outstanding companies based on its operational performance and relationship with host communities.
He attributed the achievement to the leadership of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Asiwaju Engr. Prince Olusoji Olatunji, whom he described as a transparent, visionary and people-centred administrator.
Pathfinder said members of both the National Executive Council and the Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed the leadership style of the company’s chief executive.
“The National Executive Council and Board of Trustees unanimously commended and endorsed his exceptional foresight, transformational leadership and unwavering commitment to host community development.
“We therefore unanimously pass a vote of confidence on his leadership and stewardship of Grosvenor Global Services Limited,” he said.
Commitment to host communities
The council described Olatunji as a patriotic Nigerian, accomplished corporate leader and dependable partner in Nigeria’s oil and gas asset protection efforts.
It stated that his leadership has strengthened the relationship between the company and host communities while promoting peaceful coexistence in operational areas.
According to the council, the company’s investment in local employment opportunities, community engagement and corporate social responsibility programmes has improved trust between communities and operators in the oil and gas sector.
It said such initiatives have continued to support efforts aimed at reducing conflicts around oil facilities while encouraging community participation in protecting critical national assets.
Call for industry-wide adoption
The HOSTCON Youth Council urged other indigenous and multinational companies operating in the Nigerian oil and gas sector to emulate Grosvenor Global Services Limited’s approach to community relations.
It stressed that operators should strengthen partnerships with host communities, expand youth empowerment programmes and embrace transparent corporate governance.
According to the council, meaningful engagement with host communities remains essential for ensuring sustainable peace, boosting crude oil production and protecting strategic national assets from vandalism and crude oil theft.
The group noted that stronger collaboration between companies and local communities would also improve investor confidence and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Highlighting achievements
The council further highlighted what it described as major achievements recorded by Grosvenor Global Services Limited under the leadership of Olatunji.
It said the company has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous global services firms while making significant contributions to pipeline surveillance and critical infrastructure protection in the Niger Delta.
According to the council, the company’s interventions have received commendation for helping to curb crude oil theft and safeguard vital energy facilities.
It also noted that Olatunji serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tratun Energy Limited as well as Executive Director at Regions Oil and Gas.
The council further acknowledged his investments in education, youth development and community empowerment through various interventions.
These, it said, include the distribution of notebooks, textbooks and other educational materials to pupils and students as well as mentorship programmes designed to prepare young people for productive careers.
It added that Olatunji has received several honours, including the Delta Role Model Award for Youth Empowerment, in recognition of his contributions to youth development.
Philanthropy and healthcare outreach
Beyond the oil and gas sector, the council said the GGSL boss has continued to invest in humanitarian activities across the Niger Delta.
It noted that his philanthropic initiatives include sponsorship of sporting activities, youth entertainment programmes and periodic distribution of relief materials to vulnerable families.
The council also highlighted the impact of the Prince Olusoji Olatunji Foundation (PROOF), particularly its healthcare outreach programmes.
According to the group, the initiative has conducted medical outreach activities in more than 50 communities across the Niger Delta, providing free medical consultations, drugs and essential healthcare supplies to underserved residents.
The council further observed that Olatunji’s longstanding relationship with Delta State has translated into tangible economic benefits for the area.
It noted that the establishment of the corporate headquarters of Grosvenor Global Services Limited and Tratun Energy Limited along the DSC Expressway in Otokutu has increased commercial activities, enhanced infrastructure visibility and created employment opportunities for residents.
The HOSTCON Youth Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote peaceful host community relations, responsible corporate governance and the protection of Nigeria’s strategic oil and gas assets, while encouraging other operators in the industry to adopt similar people-centred development models.
