Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Wednesday, called on the management of Ashaka Cement Plc to expand employment opportunities for residents and strengthen its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives as the company embarks on a major expansion programme and transition to HBM Nigeria Plc.
The governor made the appeal while receiving the managing director of Ashaka Cement Plc, Ibrahim Aminu, at the Government House, Gombe.
The meeting focused on the company’s expansion plans, its transition to HBM Nigeria Plc, as well as tax-related issues and corporate social responsibility.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described Ashaka Cement as one of Gombe state’s most strategic industrial partners, while commending the company for its long-standing contribution to the state’s economic growth and industrial development.
“Ashaka Cement has remained a key partner in our industrialisation agenda and socio-economic development. We appreciate the company’s contributions over the years and encourage its management to further deepen its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives,” the governor said.
He urged the company to ensure that the planned expansion translates into more employment opportunities, particularly for qualified indigenes from the host community, noting that inclusive growth remains central to his administration’s development agenda.
