A self-styled Edo spiritualist, Solomon Odigie Moses, has been sentenced to one year in prison for defrauding an Indian woman of $1,100 in a sextortion scheme disguised as spiritual healing.
Moses was convicted and sentenced by Justice C.N. Nwabulu of the Federal High Court in Abuja after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of cheating and impersonation filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The suspect was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, following an investigation into the alleged fraud.
According to the EFCC, Moses posed as a spiritual leader known as “Dr Solomon” through a fictitious TikTok account and offered spiritual prayers and assistance to the victim, identified as Sharon Kaur.
The anti-graft agency told the court that Moses subsequently deceived Kaur into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he allegedly recorded live without her consent.
The suspect then allegedly used the recording to blackmail the woman, threatening to release the video publicly unless she paid him money.

The EFCC said its investigation established that the victim eventually paid $1,100 through Moses’ Zelle payment platform to prevent the alleged intimate video from being made public.
The dollar proceeds were subsequently converted to naira and paid into his local bank account, according to the commission.
The charge against Moses stated that he had, sometime in 2026 in Abuja, “fraudulently impersonated a spiritual leader named Dr. Solomon on a fictitious TikTok account” and obtained $1,100 from Kaur for spiritual prayers and assistance.
The alleged offence was said to be contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code Act (Abuja), Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990, and punishable under Section 322 of the same Act.
When the charge was read to him, Moses pleaded guilty.
Following his plea, EFCC counsel, Maryam Hayatudeen, urged the court to convict and sentence him in accordance with the law.
In his ruling, Justice Nwabulu convicted Moses and sentenced him to one year imprisonment, with an option of a N300,000 fine.
The judge also ordered that the $1,100 identified as proceeds of crime be forfeited and returned to the victim through the EFCC.
