Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Kingsley Chinda, while also backing President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
The declaration signals a major political realignment in Rivers State, coming amid renewed alignment between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, after months of reported political differences.
Fubara made his position known on Wednesday during the groundbreaking and foundation-laying ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
At the event, the governor also confirmed his membership of the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance led by Wike.
Addressing supporters, Fubara urged them to embrace the new political direction, saying, “My call to you is simple: join me in the Rainbow Coalition. Together, we will build a stronger Rivers State and support the leadership that is transforming Nigeria.”
His endorsement of Chinda and Tinubu is expected to have implications for the political landscape in Rivers State, as the governor’s decision could influence political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
