The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed a two-match ban on England defender, Jarell Quansah, following a red card issued on him during his country’s Round of 32 encounter at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
A statement by the football body states that the defender, recklessly tackled Mexico’s Jesus Gallardo by clashing his stds into the shin of the opponent, which has now been teemed a breached in Article 14 of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code, and would now serve his suspension in England’s crucial Round of 16 clash with Norway.
”The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed the following sanction on England’s national-team player, Jarell Quansah, aS result of a direct red card during the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Mexico and England played on 5 July 2026 at Mexico City Stadium,” the statement, released on Thursday reads in extract.
” 2-match suspension for a breach of Article 14 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
”The suspension will be served in the upcoming matches of the representative team of England in the FIFA World Cup 2026 and in accordance with art, 69 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.”
The ruling also means that England coach, Thomas Tuchel, would also be unable to feature the Bayer Leverkusen man against either Argentina or Switzerland in the Semi final, should they navigate past the Landslaget team.
