Femi Kuti Explains Why He Refused to Take Pictures Alone With Korra Obidi

Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has explained why he was reluctant to pose for a photograph alone with dancer and entertainer Korra Obidi, saying he wanted to avoid unnecessary controversy.

The light-hearted moment occurred after Korra Obidi’s live concert in Lagos and was captured in a video later shared on her Instagram page.

In the clip, Femi Kuti jokingly called on his sister, Yeni Kuti, to join the photograph, saying he did not want to attract problems or online drama.

“I don’t want any problems in my life. I have enough problems,” the veteran musician said with a smile before adding that even the rain seemed to suggest the photo should not happen.

His comments appeared to reference the controversy that followed Korra Obidi’s visit to the Fela Kuti gravesite in December 2025, when a video of her dancing there sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Rather than pose alone with the dancer, Femi invited Yeni Kuti into the frame, turning the moment into a humorous exchange that drew laughter from those present.

Korra later shared the video on Instagram, expressing appreciation for meeting both Femi and Yeni Kuti after her performance.

She described the encounter as an honour and thanked members of the Kuti family for the warm reception.

The video has since generated reactions online, with many social media users interpreting Femi Kuti’s remarks as a playful attempt to avoid becoming the subject of another online debate.
