Nigerian music star Burna Boy and Colombian singer Shakira have reunited ahead of the historic halftime performance scheduled for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday.
The Afrobeats singer shared a video on his X account showing the pair smiling, laughing and embracing during rehearsals at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as preparations continue for the tournament’s first-ever World Cup final halftime show.
In the clip, Burna Boy also expressed excitement about returning to the stage with Shakira for one of football’s biggest global events.
FIFA confirms halftime performance
Earlier, FIFA announced that Burna Boy and Shakira would headline the landmark halftime show, where they are expected to perform “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The entertainment lineup is also expected to feature performances and appearances by BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay’s PS22 Chorus, as well as characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets.
Unlike previous World Cup finals, this year’s halftime break is expected to run longer than the traditional 15 minutes to accommodate the special entertainment programme.

The halftime show will take place during the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, with millions of football fans around the world expected to watch both the championship match and the star-studded musical performance.
