The Abia State Police Command has arrested four suspected drug peddlers during an intelligence-led operation in Osisioma Local Government Area, recovering quantities of suspected hard drugs and cannabis allegedly prepared for distribution.
The Command disclosed this in a press statement issued on Saturday, July 18, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, and made available to ABN TV.
According to the statement, the suspects are David Chika Nwakamma (50), an indigene of Amapuife in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State; Stanley Moses, popularly known as “Rati Boy” (33), from Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State; Ibe Chisom (29), from Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State; and Austin GodsWill (27), also from Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. The Police said all four suspects are residents of Osisioma, Abia State.
The Command stated that the suspects were apprehended on July 16, 2026, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible and actionable intelligence on the alleged cultivation and distribution of illicit drugs in the area.
During the operation, the operatives recovered quantities of substances suspected to be hard drugs packaged for sale, as well as suspected freshly harvested cannabis believed to have been cultivated for distribution.

The Police said the operation forms part of the Command’s sustained efforts to combat drug-related crimes and dismantle criminal networks involved in the cultivation, distribution, and sale of illicit substances across the state.
According to the statement, investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ activities and identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged drug trafficking operation.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to tackling crime, the Abia State Police Command assured residents that it would continue intelligence-driven operations to ensure there is no safe haven for criminals in the state.
The Police also urged members of the public to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons or activities through the nearest police station or the Command’s emergency hotlines.
