Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has achieved another career milestone, becoming the first African artist to reach the top of the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.
The Grammy-winning singer reached the landmark with “Dai Dai,” his official FIFA World Cup collaboration with Colombian pop star Shakira.
The achievement marks another significant moment for African music on the global stage.
‘Dai Dai’ dominates global charts
This week’s Billboard rankings show “Dai Dai” at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global 200 Excluding U.S. charts.
The song also continued its rise on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, climbing 12 places to a new peak of No. 55.
Its strong performance reflects the growing international success of Afrobeats and Burna Boy’s expanding global audience.
Tems also reaches new milestone
Fellow Nigerian singer Tems also recorded an impressive achievement this week.
Her hit song “What You Need” climbed five places to a new peak of No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending 15 weeks on the chart.
The track recently reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart.
Tems became the first solo African artist to top both airplay rankings, further highlighting the growing influence of Nigerian music worldwide.
