Besiktas reach agreement to sign Mohamed Salah

Turkish giants Besiktas have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah over a sensational free transfer, a move that could become one of the biggest deals of the summer transfer window.

According to transfer journalist Santi Aouna (@Santi_J_FM), the Istanbul-based club has agreed personal terms with the Liverpool forward, who is expected to join as a free agent if the deal is successfully concluded. Blueprint reports

The report states that Besiktas have offered the Egypt captain a one-year contract worth €10 million per season, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional year.

In addition to the annual salary, the Turkish club has also included performance-related bonuses worth up to €2 million, taking the potential value of the package to €12 million should all conditions be met.

Verbal agreement reached

The reported breakthrough follows weeks of speculation surrounding Salah’s future after the expiration of his previous contract.

While several clubs across Europe, the Middle East and Major League Soccer had been linked with the prolific winger, Besiktas appear to have moved into pole position after successfully convincing the player over the financial package and sporting project.

Although the agreement is currently understood to be verbal, sources close to the negotiations believe discussions have advanced significantly, with only the completion of formal documentation and medical examinations expected before an official announcement can be made.

Neither Besiktas nor Salah’s representatives had issued an official statement at the time of filing this report.

A major coup for Besiktas

Should the transfer be completed, it would rank among the biggest signings in Besiktas’ history and one of the most significant acquisitions ever made by a Turkish club.

The Black Eagles are eager to strengthen their squad as they seek to challenge domestic rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce for the Turkish Süper Lig title while also competing strongly in European competitions.

Signing a player of Salah’s calibre would significantly enhance the club’s attacking strength and global profile.

Beyond his quality on the pitch, Salah’s arrival would be expected to boost shirt sales, commercial partnerships and the club’s international fan base, particularly across Africa and the Middle East, where the Egyptian remains one of football’s biggest icons.

One of Africa’s greatest footballers

Salah has enjoyed one of the most successful careers of any African footballer in history.

After beginning his European journey with Swiss side Basel, he went on to feature for Chelsea, Fiorentina and AS Roma before establishing himself as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players.

During his time at Anfield, Salah won the UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup, while also collecting numerous individual honours.

He has consistently ranked among Europe’s leading goalscorers and remains Egypt’s all-time football icon, inspiring millions across Africa through his remarkable achievements.

His pace, finishing ability, creativity and consistency have made him one of the most feared attackers of his generation.

Boost for Turkish football

If the deal is finalised, Salah would become one of the highest-profile players currently competing in the Turkish Süper Lig.

His arrival would further raise the league’s international profile and reinforce Turkey’s growing reputation as a destination for elite footballers.

In recent seasons, Turkish clubs have attracted several established stars from Europe’s top leagues as they continue to invest heavily in improving the quality and competitiveness of domestic football.

Football analysts believe Salah’s presence would not only improve Besiktas’ chances of success but also increase global interest in the Turkish league.

Awaiting official confirmation

Despite reports of a verbal agreement, the transfer has yet to be formally completed.

As is often the case in major transfer negotiations, contracts must still be finalised before either party can make an official announcement.

Until then, supporters of Besiktas and football fans around the world will closely monitor developments as one of the summer’s most talked-about transfer stories unfolds.

If completed, the move would mark another significant chapter in Salah’s illustrious career, offering the Egyptian captain a fresh challenge in Turkish football while giving Besiktas one of the biggest names in world football ahead of the new season.
