Bashar community hails Governor Mutfwang over reinstatement traditional ruler

The Bashar Chiefdom Community Development Association (BACCODA) has commended Plateau state Governor Caleb Mutfwang for reinstating His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, as the Rekna of Bashar in Wase Local Government Area, describing the decision as a victory for justice, unity and peace.

In a statement jointly signed by its President, Dr Zakari Mohammed, and Secretary, Alhaji Yunusa Aliyu Garba, the association expressed gratitude to the governor for what it described as a courageous and unifying intervention.

“We at BACCODA, on behalf of the entire people of Bashar Chiefdom, extend our heartfelt commendations to His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, for this noble and unifying gesture,” the statement said.

According to the association, the reinstatement reflects the governor’s commitment to grassroots unity, cultural preservation and peaceful coexistence across Plateau State.

“The reinstatement of the Rekna of Bashar is a triumph for justice, fairness, and the collective desire of our people to sustain our cherished traditional institutions.

“This action clearly shows the Governor’s willingness to listen to the yearnings of the people and prioritise communal harmony above political divides,” it added.

BACCODA said the resolution of the chieftaincy dispute would strengthen ongoing peace-building efforts in Wase Federal Constituency and Plateau State as a whole. It also praised Governor Mutfwang’s consultative style of governance, saying it had continued to build trust and mutual respect among the state’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.

The association appealed to the people of Bashar Chiefdom and Wase Local Government Area to support their traditional institutions, uphold law and order, and continue backing the developmental initiatives of the Plateau State Government.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the state government, traditional institutions and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to attract more dividends of democracy and sustainable development to the people of Wase.
