The Nigerian Army has arrested six residents suspected of supporting terrorists’ activities which has led to loss of lives and properties in the area.
The military arrested the suspects during an operation that disrupted a supply chain linked to armed groups operating in parts of the state, accusing them of aiding criminal activities through logistics supplies and transportation networks.
During the enforcement held yesterday, the troops also intercepted 10 brand-new Honda motorcycles from the residents believed to have been procured for terrorist operations.
According to the military on Tuesday, preliminary investigations indicated that the motorcycles were being moved to a notorious terrorist commander identified as Mallam Gehowa, adding that the consignment was concealed in cartons in an apparent attempt to evade detection by security operatives.
Furthermore, it disclosed that the intelligence gathered during the operation led to the arrest of four additional suspects who allegedly arrived to take delivery of the motorcycles stating further that the arrests were made before the items could reach their intended destination.
According to the Army, the operation is another significant success in ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist networks by targeting their sources of supply, movement and support.
