FIFA has announced that Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić will officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
The highly anticipated showdown will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where both nations will battle for football’s biggest prize.
Officiating team unveiled
Vinčić will be assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič, who have been appointed as assistant referees for the final.
Meanwhile, Adham Makhadmeh of Jordan will serve as the fourth official for the title-deciding encounter.
Fourth assignment at World Cup
The final will mark Vinčić’s fourth match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
During the tournament, he has already overseen the group-stage fixtures between Brazil and Morocco as well as Jordan and Algeria.
The Slovenian official also handled the Round of 32 clash between Mexico and Ecuador, where Ecuador defender Piero Hincapié was sent off under FIFA’s anti-discrimination protocol, commonly referred to as the “Vinícius Law.”
