A Magistrate Court in Abuja has sentenced a motorist, Atada Victor, to two weeks of community service and ordered him to pay N1.08 million in financial liabilities after finding him guilty of dangerous driving, assaulting a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) marshal and other traffic offences.
The offences stemmed from an incident during a routine traffic enforcement operation in the Federal Capital Territory on Sunday, July 5, 2026, when Victor allegedly attempted to evade arrest after being flagged down for a traffic violation.
According to the FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, who disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday, Victor deliberately accelerated his vehicle, knocked down the arresting marshal and rammed into the corps’ patrol vehicle.
“Rather than complying with the lawful directive to stop, he deliberately accelerated, knocked down the arresting Marshal and rammed into the Corps’ patrol vehicle,” Ohaeri said.
He added that the marshal sustained serious injuries to the head, eye and other parts of the body during the incident.
Victor was subsequently arraigned before the Wuse Magistrate Court, where the court sentenced him to two weeks of community service and ordered him to pay N1.08 million in financial liabilities.
The Federal Road Safety Corps reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring road safety and warned motorists against endangering lives by resisting lawful enforcement officers in the discharge of their duties.
