The authorities of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have commenced the evacuation of the illegal waste dump site in Kagini Community as part of efforts to restore sanity and improve environmental hygiene in the area.
While flagging off the exercise, Monday, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, the Supervisory Councillor on Environment, Hon. Hashimu Angama, described the cleanup as the first step in a broader sanitation drive across AMAC.
He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and more livable environment for residents, stressing that the administration will enforce strict compliance with waste management laws.
“On the directive of the Executive Chairman, we are kicking off this assignment with Kagini. Let it be clear that there will be zero tolerance for dirtiness in any part of AMAC.
“We will not allow indiscriminate dumping to endanger the health and wellbeing of our people,” Hon. Angama stated.
He further urged residents and community leaders to support the initiative by disposing of waste properly and reporting defaulters to relevant AMAC authorities.
