Vehicle crushes Sokoto traditional title holder to death


Tragedy struck in Gagi area of Sokoto metropolis, Sokoto South local government area, when a young boy allegedly crushed a traditional title holder, Alhaji Bello Hassan (Magajin Garin Gagi) to death with his car.

Blueprint reliably gathered that the incident occurred when the suspect and his brother were racing in their various vehicles, en route the venue of a horse racing event in the outskirts of Gagi town.

 Sources said the duo were sons of another top-notch traditional title holder in Sokoto, Alhaji Bello Mayana ( Mayanan Sokoto).

Eye witnesses described the incident as very horrific, adding that the body of the deceased was mutilated and fragmented into three different parts.

It was further gathered that the remains of the deceased who was said to be returning from his farm was said to have been taken to a hospital by the operatives of the Unguwar Rogo Police Division in Sokoto city.

The remains of the deceased were however said to be later in the same day released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.

Reacting to the ugly development, the District Head of Gagi  (Sarkin Yakin Gagi), Alhaji Sani Umar Jabbi, expressed regret of the incident, saying that justice must be done for the sake of of the family of the deceased.

All efforts to get the comments of the spokesperson of the Sokoto state Police command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, proved abortive as he didn’t return calls.

He also never called back as at the time of filing this report, although he promised to do so.
