Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Borno
Troops of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have arrested five suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered AK-47 rifles during a coordinated operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of criminal elements along a known kidnapping corridor in the area.
Military sources said the troops acted on the intelligence and conducted a well-planned raid which led to the arrest of the suspects.
During the operation, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and ammunition, effectively disrupting the operational capability of the syndicate and preventing further criminal attacks on civilians.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects were linked to a series of kidnappings and other criminal activities within Magumeri and adjoining communities in Borno State.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are assisting security agencies with ongoing investigations aimed at tracking other members of the network and dismantling their support structures.
The military said the success of the operation underscores the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist and criminal groups across the North East.
It added that the Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property while intensifying operations against insurgents, kidnappers and other criminal elements across the country.
