A student of Lagos State University, LASU, has died after suffering severe injuries during an armed robbery attack in Lagos.
The deceased, identified as Otabor Boluwatife Joseph, was a student in the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Arts.
The incident has sparked concern among students and residents over security in communities around the university.
Attack Occurred in Iba Area of Lagos
According to information released by the university, the attack happened on the night of May 29, 2026, in the Iba area of Lagos.
Otabor and several friends were reportedly attacked by armed robbers while off campus.
Following the incident, he was rushed for medical treatment as efforts were made to save his life.
University Responded Immediately
LASU stated that university officials became involved shortly after receiving reports of the attack.
The institution said its student affairs leadership maintained communication with medical personnel and monitored developments throughout the student’s hospitalization.
Despite medical efforts, the student later died from injuries sustained during the attack.
LASU Seeks Justice for Deceased Student
