Nollywood actor Stan Nze has reacted to the theft of several mobile phones at the service of songs held in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo.
Nze, who hosted the memorial event and was a close associate of Ekubo, disclosed that more than five phones went missing during the gathering on Wednesday.
His comments came after actresses BamBam and Susan Peters earlier raised concerns over their missing phones at the event.
Actor questions theft during mourning ceremony
In a post shared on his verified Instagram account, Nze expressed disappointment over the incident, questioning why anyone would steal from people attending a memorial ceremony.
He said the situation made him reflect on broader issues affecting society and the values of individuals.
The actor explained that he was careful not to exaggerate the number of missing devices, adding that he personally knew some people who lost their phones.
Nze calls for personal responsibility
Nze said Nigerians often complain about problems in the country, including insecurity and poor leadership, but added that citizens also need to examine their own actions.
He argued that positive change requires individuals to show kindness and responsibility in their daily lives.
According to him, solving national problems goes beyond replacing leaders and should also involve improving personal conduct.
Guests reportedly delayed leaving after incident
The actor revealed that measures were taken at the venue, including temporarily restricting movement, while efforts were made to recover the missing phones.
He said the situation was painful because people were already gathered to mourn the loss of a loved one.
Nze urged people to act with compassion and integrity, especially during sensitive moments.
