Veteran Nollywood actors Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo have dismissed renewed concerns over the health and well-being of their colleague, Hanks Anuku, following the circulation of a viral video showing the actor lying by the roadside in Abuja.
The video, which resurfaced on social media on Saturday, June 27, 2026, showed Anuku lying on a road in the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory while talking to himself and holding a disposable cup.
The footage quickly sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern over the veteran actor’s appearance and mental state. Some commenters also speculated that he might have been under the influence of alcohol.
However, reacting to the growing controversy, Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo dismissed the narrative that the incident was recent, insisting that the video being circulated was an old recording.

Commenting under an Instagram post shared by a popular entertainment blog, Arinze wrote, “This is a very old video oo.”
Jerry Amilo also urged members of the public to stop recirculating the footage and spreading what he described as misleading information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
“PLEASE THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. STOP SPREADING EVIL NEWS AND WISHES,” Amilo wrote.
Their clarification came amid increasing concern from fans and colleagues who feared the actor may have suffered a relapse or that his condition had worsened.
Hanks Anuku has, over the years, been the subject of repeated social media speculation regarding his health and lifestyle, with several old videos and photographs often resurfacing online and generating fresh public debate.
In November 2023, the veteran actor publicly acknowledged struggling with depression, revealing that his drinking habit developed as a coping mechanism during one of the most difficult periods of his life.
The latest clarification by Arinze and Amilo appears aimed at dispelling misinformation and reassuring fans that the viral footage does not reflect the actor’s current situation.
