A Russian attack on the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhya killed at least one person and wounded seven others, Ukrainian authorities said.
A warning of possible further strikes remained in effect on Wednesday morning because of Russian drones in the airspace, the Kyiv Independent reported.
Governor Ivan Fedorov said civilian infrastructure was damaged, and a multi-storey residential building caught fire in the attack.
The sole fatality was a man whose car was struck by one of dozens of Russian drones, the Kyiv Independent reported, citing police.
A residential district was targeted, while the city’s university and a shopping centre also sustained damage.
The reports could not be independently verified.
Zaporizhzhya is best known as the site of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, which was seized by Russian forces in the early weeks of the 2022 invasion.
There were no indications that the facility was hit in the latest attack.
Russia has increasingly relied on missiles and drones in its more than four-year war against Ukraine.
While Ukrainian air defences intercept many incoming drones, missile strikes continue to inflict significant damage.
The intensity of Russian attacks has increased in recent months.
According to the United Nations, May was the deadliest month for civilians since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, with 274 people killed and nearly 1,800 injured.
